Dell To Acquire Alienware?

There’s speculation in some places that Dell may actually buy Alienware. We have it beginning at Rahul’s (from Voodoo) blog and the speculation continues at The Inquirer.

Apparently, there are solid reasons for such a deal. Alienware would provide Dell the necessary branding and customer base to branch properly into manufacturing high-end gaming PCs, even if Dell isn’t known for going into M&As.

But my senses tell me otherwise (even if I don’t have anything to back me). In my humble opinion, this talk of Dell acquiring Alienware is oh-so-similar to the speculation we saw earlier on a Dell-AMD partnership.
