Future Dell Notebooks Exposed
Ah, the wonders of Google. Through Google, a poster over at NotebookReview.com recently noticed a Dell spreadsheet containing basic configurations for several unannounced Dell products - such as the Dell Inspiron e1405, Inspiron e1505, Inspiron 640m and Inspiron 6400 - at an official Dell FTP server. And this spreadsheet was readily available from Google (or apparently even Yahoo!) until recently.
What the 36MB Microsoft Excel spreadsheet contained were basic specifications (such as processor technology) and price ranges of the various unannouced Dell products. So, while the spreadsheet says nothing about the detailed tech. specs. of the upcoming dual core Inspirons, it does tell us that they were tentatively priced between $900 to $1500.
Normally, I don’t get very interested in incomplete data like this, but Dell’s medium-term dual core plans have been shrouded in quite a bit of mystery, at least if compared with other brand-name PC makers such as Sony or better yet, Acer - which made sure that a whole press release was dedicated to their line-up of future dual core notebooks.
